A beautiful excursion driving through the sweet rolling hills of Val d’Orcia arriving in Montalcino where the most famous Italian wine, Brunello, is produced.
Your guide is Alessandro, a native of Montalcino, which family is involved in wine business: they have enoteca “ italian name for a wine shop” in center of town, ENOTECA Pierangioli.
He will pick you up at 10.00 at your accommodation and transfer to the first winery.
During the day you will visit at least three wineries, taste red wines and Brunello di Montalcino of various vintages, taste dessert wine and have a light lunch in a cellar.
Our favourite wineries we propose are: Mastroianni, Caparzo, Fuligni, Poggio di sotto, Loacher; Altesino, Argiano, Ciacci Piccolomini, Fattoria dei Barbi, Poggio Antico, Castello Banfi, Biondi Santi some of them they produce top quality brunello and rosso in organic way and also biodynamic wine. Lunch is usually arranged at Caparzo winery.
You will have time for sightsee: historical centre is dominated by a medieval fortress “la Rocca”, from its walls you can admire the nature and landscape of the Val d’Orcia area, the Crete Senesi and the hills of Maremma, and not-to-be-missed Sant’ Antimo abbey outside the town.
