Nice hotels we use in our bike tours & Cycling Vacations Tuscany is simultaneously luxurious and colorfully rustic, resolutely provincial and firmly forward-thinking, you might be surprised. Tuscany’s 9,000 square miles of rolling hills and lush vineyards, pine tree-lined beaches and palazzo circled squares contain the best of what draws bikers adventure here again and again to cycle. It is important you don’t try to explore all Tuscany all at once, on the contrary decide the area you want to discover. Cicloposse bike tours cover the areas we think are the best if you travel on a saddle. Here we want to write about our interpretation of luxury: special comfort accommodation with charm and history, strategically located to enjoy road biking.
First of our list is La bandita townhouse, opened in 2013, by John Voigtmann, an erstwhile Manhattan music executive. What a great job! As citizens of Pienza we are so happy to have now a stylish hotel with gourmet restaurant on main street of the ideal city and as bike tour operator we are happy to have a luxury hotel to offer in our bike tours – self and guided. Feedback from clients are enthusiastic of warm service and cozy ambience.
In Montalcino there are several luxury hotels: Castello di velona and Castiglione del Bosco. Special for us is the magic Castello Banfi’s ll Borgo, a 14-room hotel in a 19th-century building restored to gorgeous effect. The fairytale “Castello” is immersed in Brunello vineyards. Terrific place for cycling is Castello di Casole! Strategic and off the beaten path, with back roads very quiet that often lead to delightful vistas. What you face here? Bike ride to San Galgano – the church without roof- make it like a local cyclists and do Galleraie ride. Do leave time for a detour along one of the strade bianche, the “white roads”.
In Chianti our favourite is clearly is Castello del Nero. It is a 5 star hotel near Florence (17 miles). By bike you can explore all chianti classic region and San Gimignano. Converted from 12th century castello, it is located on the border of the little village of Tavarnelle. After cycling you can enjoy a top spa or the pool overlooking an amazing landscape that made Tuscany so famous. If you love thermal bath, hot spring here some suggestion A handful of Tuscany’s thermal baths-among them Terme di Saturnia in the Maremma In San Casciano dei bagni – stage of bike tour maremma- we propose the resort Fonteverde, built in the 17th century by the Duke Ferdinando I de’ Medici amid precious hot springs whose therapeutic properties were known since ancient times. Is perfect to explore val d’orcia and excursion to Maremma In the end, at less than 10 miles from Pienza Adler Thermae at Bagno Vignoni has emerged with sleek rooms and amenities, in the heart of Val d’Orcia.
