2017 will be Giro D’Italia 100th edition, a historic milestone that will start from the scenic setting of Sardinia for the third time in its long history.
WE decide to offer a Unique Bike Tour in Sardinia dedicated to celebrate the 100th edition of the Giro D’Italia with its Grande Partenza starting on the island of Sardinia from Alghero to Cagliari!
MAY 3 2017: The Guided bike tour will kick off with a Welcome to Sardinia Loop and Teams Presentation in Alghero, follow three in line pro stages on the island: Alghero-Olbia (203 km), Olbia-Tortolì (208 km) and Tortolì-Cagliari (148 km) and finish up with a Farewell coastal Loop from Pula.
Giro d’Italia in Sardinia: The Corsa Rosa was raced for the first time in Sardinia in 1961; an occasion which marked the 100th anniversary of the Birth of the Italian kingdom.
Thirty years later, in 1991, the island saw its first Grande Partenza, with two in line stages and two semi-stages, one of which was a time trial.
The Giro d’Italia’s 90th edition – 2007 – started in Sardinia with the spectacular Caprera-Maddalena Team Time Trial and the unforgettable Teams Presentation on the Italian aircraft carrier Giuseppe Garibaldi.
After 10 years away, the Corsa Rosa returns to the Sardinian roads.
