Piedmont - Guided

new 2026: Cycling trip Piedmont

Discover Piemonte by Bike. Piemonte is a land of quiet beauty and bold flavors — where hazelnut groves, alpine cheeses, and handmade agnolotti meet rolling hills and world-class wines. From charming towns like Barolo to the vineyard-covered slopes of Monferrato, this region has long captured the hearts and palates of those who venture beyond the usual routes.

With roots in farming and winemaking, the people here welcome you with warmth and authenticity. We’ll ride through serene valleys, past hilltop villages and panoramic vineyards, experiencing the rhythm of the land at the perfect pace — by bike.

We’ve been guiding tours in Piemonte for many years, and we believe now is the time to explore its best cycling routes. This itinerary highlights the areas we love most — and we can’t wait to share them with you.

DAY 1

Arrival to Barolo

Meet in Torino or directly at our charming first hotel, Tenuta Bussia.

After a bike fitting and a short test ride through the rolling vineyards around Castiglione Falletto  we’ll kick off the week with a welcome dinner in the heart of Barolo — the perfect start to our journey through Piemonte’s flavors and landscapes. Welcome dinner in Barolo

Distance 20 km/12,5 mi
Elevation  +392 m / -389 m

DAY 2

Langhe & La Morra

Ride through the heart of the Langhe, a landscape of rolling hills, ancient castles, and storied vineyards. Today’s route winds through Barolo, Monforte d’Alba, Dogliani, Serralunga, and finally La Morra — a hilltop village with sweeping views over the sea of vines below.

In the local dialect, Langa refers to these gentle hills that define the region, rich with medieval history and timeless charm. A stop in Barolo feels like a pilgrimage for wine lovers — stroll its cobbled streets to the castle, where the story of this iconic wine began. In La Morra, we’ll visit Cantine Ratti for a tasting of their elegant wines, just 6 km from your hotel.

Totla Distance 58 km/36mi
elevation  +1130 m / -1119 m

Dinner tonight is on your own — perfect for exploring the village restaurants and savoring the flavors of the region at your own pace.

DAY 3

Alta Langa

Today’s ride takes us deeper into the wilder side of Piemonte, climbing steadily into the Alta Langa, where the landscape shifts from endless vineyards to hazelnut groves, woodlands, and open ridgelines. After passing through Monforte d’Alba, a medieval village perched on the hillside with narrow streets winding up to a scenic bell tower, we head south toward Benevello, passing through Bossolasco and Murazzano, known for its sheep’s milk cheese and panoramic views.

The Alta Langa is not just a geographical area but also the name of a refined sparkling wine — an expression of the region’s cool climate and elevation. It’s a place of quiet beauty and slower rhythms, perfect for savoring the ride and the scenery.

We’ll stay tonight at the elegant Villa d’Amelia.

Dinner is on your own — perhaps a chance to try some local tajarin pasta or Murazzano cheese

Distance 59 km/37 mi
Elevation +1287 m / -1043 m

DAY 4

Alba

Today’s ride is a scenic loop through the eastern Langhe, passing Sinio, a quiet hilltop village with stone houses and stunning views, and Grinzane Cavour, where the striking castle — once home to Italy’s first Prime Minister, Camillo Benso di Cavour — overlooks vineyards that stretch to the horizon. You’ll also pass Montelupo, known for its peaceful setting and forested hills

Highlight of day is Alba, often called the “Capital of the Langhe.” With its medieval towers, Roman foundations, and vibrant food culture, it’s a city rich in history and character. Stroll the cobbled streets to Piazza Risorgimento, where the Palazzo Comunale anchors the old town with centuries of civic life.

You’ll return to Villa d’Amelia in the late afternoon.

Tonight, we suggest dining at your lodging, at the excellent in-house restaurant DaMa — a refined culinary experience that celebrates the best of local flavors in an elegant setting.

Total Distance 60 km/37,5
Elevation +1277 m / -1252 m

DAY 5

Through Barbaresco & Canelli

Today’s ride leads you into another jewel of Piemonte’s wine country — the Barbaresco region, known for its elegant reds and breathtaking vineyard views.

Leaving your accommodation, a gentle 2 km climb sets the pace before a flowing descent brings you to Treiso, home to some of the area’s highest vineyards and prized truffle forests. Continue downhill to the enchanting village of Barbaresco, with its medieval layout and iconic tower watching over the surrounding hills.

Pedal on through Neive and Mango, two beautifully preserved villages that feel suspended in time, before reaching Canelli, the birthplace of Italian sparkling wine. Here, you’ll visit the spectacular “underground cathedrals” — historic wine cellars carved into the rock, where bottles quietly rest and mature in perfect conditions.

Tonight’s lodging is at the elegant Relais Almaranto.

Total Distance 57 km/36 mi
Elevation +1031 m / -1447 m

DAY 6

Monferrato Loop:

Today’s loop ride explores the quiet beauty of Monferrato, a lesser-known gem of Piemonte where vine-covered hills stretch toward the Alps and tiny villages dot the landscape.

You’ll roll along peaceful backroads through Nizza Monferrato, home to Barbera d’Asti, and continue toward Castelnuovo Belbo, a sleepy village with medieval and Renaissance charm — the perfect spot for a relaxed caffè stop. From there, the route flattens briefly along the Bormida River plain, before a scenic climb brings you to Mombaruzzo, famous for its soft, handmade amaretti.

After 38 km, you’ll arrive in Acqui Terme, a historic spa town with Roman roots, UNESCO-recognized vineyard landscapes, and thermal springs that have drawn travelers for centuries.

Return to Relais Almaranto in the afternoon.

Total Distance 56 km/ 35 mi
Elevation +890 m / -884 m

30 November 2016

Hi Guiliana.
I would just like to say a big thank you for arranging such a wonderful trip for our family! Everything was absolutely perfect including Nicola and Mauro. We want to take them both back to Canada with us.
You couldn’t have left is in better hands.
Mauro has been able to transfer almost all his photographs to our memory card although he has asked me to let you know which numbers of photos we are missing and you would be able to send them to me.
I will be in touch and many thanks again.
